Learning Pixel Art
Learning Pixel Art
This digital book was written to teach you how to make pixel art! It starts from nothing and builds you up step-by-step to really understanding the medium! The book is also good for existing veterans, exposing elements of the medium you may not have considered.
Fully illustrated and coming to just over 200 pages, this is a great deal for just $1.
Pixel art is an intricate and precise form of art famous for its legacy in video game art of years gone by. However, it continues to thrive today as an art form of its own, and in mobile and indie game development.
Many people try to enter the world of pixel art underestimating the depth and potential of the medium. This book is meant to remedy that, taking you from knowing absolutely nothing to being being well-versed in the medium and ready to make your own art.
You won't find any step-by-step paint-by-numbers tutorials here. This book takes you through the techniques you'll need to make your own art. It explains why certain techniques are important or problematic in clear language, not jargon. It is furnished every step of the way with illustrations and diagrams to help both visual learners and those who prefer to read.
With a wide array of exercises to help you practice your skills, Learning Pixel Art will help you reach your pixel art dreams!
You can download a number of files before you decide if you even want to pay $1 for this book! I offer the resource folder, containing all the images from the book. Additionally, I offer a two-chapter preview of the book, and the Challenges Appendix, full of the exercises the book uses and more to inspire further independent exploration and experimentation.
This book is available for just $1. I wanted a price associated with the book, as it adds legitimacy compared to the ocean of free pixel art tutorials out there. I wanted to stand above them, as I find most of them to be woefully unhelpful and most offer a paint-by-numbers approach rather than teaching concepts. However, I also want the book to be as accessible as possible, so if you for any reason can't afford to pay the $1, whether because your country doesn't support paypal or you're too young to have your own account, please email me at thelogbookproject@gmail.com. I want people to have this book. Especially younger folks - I started pixel art at age 10, and some of the best artists I've ever met have been teens. I'm really generous with the book.
I would, however, love a donation! I worked really hard on this book, and I think it really is worth more than $1, but it's up to you. Thank you! Note: this button does not purchase the book, it only donates additional money you might like to send. Use the Add To Cart button above to purchase.
